RAM were contracted by DTMR to construct a series of reinforced concrete buttresses to retain large unstable boulders.
CLIENT: Department of Transport and Main Roads
LOCATION: Paluma Range, QLD
COMPLETION: 2017
DESIGN: Rope access, rockfall barriers, cable anchors
RIX Asset Maintenance (RAM) were contracted by DTMR to construct a series of reinforced concrete buttresses to retain large unstable boulders.
Access to the site was solely by Rope Access with the cliff face scaled by hand and mechanical splitters prior to the installation of a RAM designed Rock Fall Barrier System with all debris felled retained above the roadway.
Prior to any drilling and the installation of the reinforced concrete buttresses all boulders were retained by Geobrugg Cable Anchors and Cable Retaining Systems. All of the project works were completed whilst the heritage listed road below remained open to the public with Traffic Management deployed.
The project was performed to DTMR’s high Quality, Safety and Environmental standards with RAM’s Integrated Management System used to achieve this.
