PROJECT OVERVIEW

Slope repair construction works to multiple locations for damages associated with the 2019 Flood event that devastated the Townsville area and caused significant damage to the Queensland Highway network. These works were approved under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangement (DRFA).  

SOLUTION

RAM were engaged through a sub-contract agreement through RMS to undertake the full scope of works.

This included:

  • Hand & Mechanical scaling by rope access
  • Installation of Geobrugg Debris Flow Barriers VX/UX Systems up to a debris pressure of 180 kN/m/hfl.
  • Installation of Geobrugg Greenax® Mesh
  • Fibre Glass GRP Bolts
  • Scaling and boulder breakup
  • Shotcrete

RAM successfully completed these stabilisation works using many different construction techniques including the follow solutions.

This included:

  • Rope access
  • 2 X High Reach Production Drill units
  • High access Wagon Drilling
  • Hand Drilling
  • Shotcrete in high temperatures 100m above road way 10,000 m²
